We sat down with BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards finalists Andre Gottemaker and Jane Paisley from ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland.

Andrew and Jane Paisley, the Senior Leadership Team from ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland, were named finalists in the BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards 2024 in July.

The business is being recognised in the Multi-Unit, Multi-Brand category for its passion for business across multiple brands and mastery of management strategies to enable success.

We sat down with Andre and Jane ahead of the awards finals this week to discuss the awards and see how it feels to be a finalist.

About ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland

The business was started by Contract Services franchisee Nick Dee Shapland in 1991 as a sole trader in Newbury and Reading.

In 2021, it became an Employee Ownership Trust, whereby 80% of the company shares are held in trust on behalf of the employees.

All this has contributed to their achievements in business success in the wider world and ServiceMaster’s franchise network.

What inspired you to take the plunge and enter the awards? 

“We’re incredibly proud of our journey so far and wanted to showcase what we have achieved to a wider audience and also let our team see how proud we are of them!”

“Our sustained growth achievements have been delivered through articulation and delivery of a clear strategy, underpinned by a strong company culture, so we believe this award category is most relevant.”

Are you excited for the awards night?

“We can’t wait for the awards night! It will be a fantastic celebration of all of the finalists’ achievements this year.”

Keith is one of ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland’s carpet and upholstery technicians, and the other day he had his furry family member with him, Molly, who quite enjoyed the ride in one of our distinctive yellow ServiceMaster Clean vans.

It was lovely to have Molly in the office with the team, and they weren’t worried about any accidents on the carpet because we knew we had just the expert there with them to do any necessary carpet cleaning!

Wearing it Green at ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland

Going green at ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland.

The team at ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland have been wearing it green for Mental Health Week.

Everyone in the office turned a shade of green and baked some delicious green treats – amazingly, several bakers managed to do this so they were suitably coloured AND delicious!

Wear it Green Day

Wear It Green Day is an initiative of the Mental Health Foundation to raise money and awareness for mental health.

By wearing green and participating in fundraising activities, the team raised £134 to support the Mental Health Foundation to build a society with good mental health where everybody can thrive.

Thanks to donations from businesses like Deeland, the Mental Health Foundation can continue to develop and advocate for new and effective ways to support and protect positive mental health, run national campaigns and provide everyone with evidence-backed advice and resources to share proven mental health solutions with organisations across the UK.

ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland: Sponsoring Rugby Teams in Newbury & Swindon

 ServiceMaster Clean sponsors two rugby clubs in Newbury and Swindon with kits and pitch-side signage.

The team at ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland are proud to announce that they are sponsors of the local Swindon Supermarine RFC under 12s and Newbury RFC rugby teams.

 Managing Director Andre Gottemaker said,

“We have always believed it’s important to give back to the local community, and supporting local sports teams is a great way to do this.  Both clubs also have vibrant youth teams, and it’s fantastic to be a part of encouraging young people to get into sport.”

Andre visited the Supermarine U12s on Sunday at their match against Cirencester to present the team with their new shirts and shorts.

The constant rain throughout the morning made for a very muddy experience but didn’t dim the excitement of having a brand-new kit to play in.

After the kit was presented, the boys had great fun chasing Andre across the pitch to get him as muddy as possible!

ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland raises £700 with Macmillan Coffee Morning

ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland has raised over £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support through a very successful coffee morning. 

Macmillan Cancer Support’s coffee mornings are the staple of their fundraising.

First started in 1990, the idea was simple: get people together over a coffee and donate the cost of their beverage to Macmillan.

But it was a hit and became an annual event. To date, coffee mornings have raised over £310 million for Macmillan!

This year, the official coffee morning date was late September, but people can choose any date they wish to participate.

So, there is plenty of the year left to host your own!

ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland recently hosted their coffee morning and raised over £700!

This has contributed to this year’s coffee morning national total of £6,166,878, which can fund 98 Macmillan nurses and the work they do for a whole year!
