Urgh! Another cup of coffee spilled or dripped all over your clothes, your sofa and your carpet. For a professional clean, we always recommend finding your local cleaning specialists but if you’re in a rush or want to try it yourself, here’s how to remove coffee stains!
We always recommend you try cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous space of your clothes, sofa or carpet first to check it won’t damage the colour or finish. Also, always blot, never rub a stain!
For your carpet
First job; blot up as much of the coffee as you can and then sponge the stain with a mix of one tablespoon of washing up liquid, one tablespoon of white vinegar and two cups of warm water using a clean, white cloth. Use the solution a little bit at a time and switch between a dry cloth and your damp cloth until the stain disappears. Finally, sponge with cold water and blot with once or twice and then blot dry.
For your sofa
Check the label for any cleaning instructions and if you’re safe, sponge the stain with a mix of one tablespoon of washing up liquid and two cups of cool water using a clean, white cloth. You should repeat this process until the stain disappears, then turn to cold water and blot with once or twice and then blot dry.
For your clothes
Finally, always check the instructions on the label and if your clothing is machine washable, get sponging with cool water or if you can, soak the item for around 30 minutes. Grab your stain remover, and pretreat the stain before you pop it into the washing machine.
